Thruport Acquires UltiData Hosting Business: Deal Adds Blue-Chip Client Base To Thruport's Managed Hosting Division

Alexandria, VA, August 26, 2002 -- Thruport Technologies' Managed Hosting division today announced it has acquired the hosting services assets of UltiData, LLC, a Maryland-based provider of database management technology and services. UltiData works with enterprises to simplify how database-intensive Internet applications access, retrieve, and manage information in the most efficient manner. Thruport's managed hosting infrastructure, multi-peered network, engineering talent, and software development capabilities are a natural complement for these enterprise clients.

Thruport COO, Rick Smith, commented that "UltiData has built some very impressive technology to manage the database layer and sought a partner that offers a personalized, world-class managed hosting platform. We're already working with UltiData on several engagements; acquiring its hosting business made perfect sense to cement the relationship." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
