Thruport Launches UltraDNS Managed
Services: Thruport and UltraDNS Team To Bring Global DNS Connectivity
To Mid-Sized Enterprises
Alexandria, VA, August 14, 2002 --
Thruport Technologies, Inc. today announced a strategic partnership
with UltraDNS to bring Managed DNS Service to its base
of mid-size enterprises. UltraDNS' network is comprised of
two redundant networks and nine domain name service (DNS)
nodes located across the world, each continuously updated
with the most current DNS directories. End-users accessing
a site connected to the UltraDNS network are directed to the
most proximate node, increasing performance and the probability
of connection. Site owners using the UltraDNS network receive
a 100% connectivity commitment.
Thruport CTO, David Moser, noted that
"most users, and even IT professionals, are not aware of the
importance and impact of DNS to ensure connectivity. In fact,
DNS lookup - the fundamental process by which an Internet
address is converted into a physical IP address - constitutes
the second most frequent reason for user connection failure.
We spent several months looking for DNS solutions that would
create real value for our customers, and UltraDNS is the best.
Their network, application user interface, and service approach
are very complementary to Thruport's managed services mission
and a key component in serving our overseas site owners and
users." Thruport will resell the UltraDNS service in two forms,
customer-administered DNS or fully-managed by Thruport.
